I've been using found objects in my work for many years, fascinated with the history that comes with each object and how that object's definition and function can be changed through the manipulation of materials.  Knowing that many of the boxes in this exhibition would retain their original shape and structure, I decided to alter mine using materials that I work with on a daily basis.  I also wanted the box to retain its basic function as a container, but become something more.  With the wood burning it houses, it becomes a frame, and possibly a book of sorts that showcases the burning, and becomes a little more precious because of this new function.
